The 25th China International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition was held in Beijing recently. At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, industry experts stated that the interweaving of three variables - geopolitical games, the reconstruction of the energy order, and low-carbon transformation and development - is giving rise to a new wave of technological revolution in oil and petrochemical equipment. At present, China's petroleum and petrochemical equipment industry is at a crucial period of transforming from large to strong. It is necessary to promote the upgrading of more innovative concepts into innovative technologies and the transformation of innovative achievements into innovative products, so that scientific and technological innovation can truly become the core engine driving the development of the industry, and promote the upgrading of petroleum and petrochemical equipment towards high-end, green and intelligent.

Academician Zhang Laibin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering pointed out in his speech: "As the main force in energy production and consumption, the petroleum and petrochemical industry has become a core issue that needs to be urgently addressed on how to achieve low-carbon, efficient and sustainable development on the basis of ensuring energy security." Meanwhile, the imbalance between energy supply and demand, the risk of resource depletion, environmental pollution and the turbulence of the international situation all pose severe challenges to us. Against such a backdrop, the wave of digital transformation is surging again, especially with the rapid development of big data and large artificial intelligence models, reshaping the industry's development pattern and bringing new opportunities to the industry. The petroleum and petrochemical industry stands at a new historical juncture. As long as it firmly seizes this opportunity of technological transformation, it will be able to break through the predicament and achieve a breakthrough in development.

Yu Jin, the vice president of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), introduced that over the years, CNOOC has vigorously implemented the project of strengthening the foundation through scientific and technological innovation, and has developed a number of high-end technical equipment products with independent intellectual property rights, such as "Xuanji" and "Haikui", driving the entire industry to climb to the high end of the value chain. However, at the same time, challenges such as multiple constraints on core technology supply, significant pressure for green transformation, an incomplete integrated ecosystem, and rapid changes in the market environment still restrict the development of the industry. We should take innovation as the fundamental driving force, continue to intensify efforts in key core technology research and development, accelerate green transformation, deepen digital application, and expand the territory of integration. Yu Jin emphasized that the equipment industry should accelerate the advancement of three "integrations" : first, to expand new space for the development of industry technology and equipment through industrial integration; second, to cultivate new driving forces for the development of industry technology and equipment through multi-energy integration; and third, to stimulate new vitality for the development of industry technology and equipment through digital integration.

China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) has been accelerating the iterative upgrading and localization process of core equipment, completing the research and development tasks of key equipment for multiple major projects, and making positive contributions to maintaining a stable energy supply and ensuring national energy security. Wang Guangsheng, deputy chief engineer of China National Petroleum Corporation and chairman of Kunlun Manufacturing Co., LTD., said that currently, China National Petroleum Corporation is focusing on deep earth and deep sea oil and gas exploration and development, transformation and upgrading of refining and chemical industries, and application scenarios of emerging and future industries. It is accelerating the research and development and iteration of high-performance drilling and production, transportation, power, and new energy equipment. Intensify efforts to achieve domestic production of key refining and chemical equipment, core geophysical exploration and logging equipment, etc.

Wang Jinfu, the president of Xi 'an Shiyou University, stated that currently, China's petroleum and petrochemical equipment industry is undergoing profound changes and challenges towards green, intelligent and high-end development. He suggested that the industry should first tackle core technologies and jointly build a collaborative innovation platform. We will carry out collaborative research and development in cutting-edge fields such as deep earth and deep sea development, CCUS, and digital oil and gas fields, and at the same time actively explore the coordinated development path in clean energy frontier fields such as hydrogen energy and geothermal energy. Second, we need to innovate the talent cultivation model and build a highland for talent cultivation. Third, we should promote the empowerment of digital technologies and build an intelligent ecosystem. We will continue to strengthen data sharing and standard collaboration, develop a full life cycle management platform for equipment, and explore the application demonstration of general AI technology in scenarios such as drilling robots and remote operation and maintenance.
