The first phase of the new materials base project of CNOOC Tianjin Institute has started construction
On March 11th, it was learned from CNOOC Tianjin Chemical Research & Design Institute Co., LTD. (hereinafter referred to as CNOOC Tianjin Institute) that the first phase of the new materials base project of CNOOC Tianjin Institute has recently started construction in the Nangang Industrial Zone of Tianjin. After the engineering project is put into operation, a new material production system for oil refining and chemical industry will be formed, facilitating the transformation and upgrading of the oil refining and chemical industry.

It is reported that the new Materials base project of CNOOC Tianjin Institute covers an area of approximately 167,000 square meters. The total investment of the first phase of the project is about 290 million yuan, with a focus on building a 5,000-ton-per-year heavy oil catalytic conversion catalyst (referred to as "DPC") production line. DPC technology is a heavy oil processing technology that has broken through the technical bottleneck of low-carbon deep processing of heavy and inferior oil products in the world today. It can directly convert heavy and inferior oil products into chemicals such as ethylene, propylene and butene.
DPC technology has been successively applied in industry in six domestic enterprises, including Huizhou Petrochemical in Guangdong Province. After the completion of the new materials base project, the annual production capacity of DPC catalysts can reach 5,000 tons, which can meet the demand of domestic refineries for efficient processing of heavy oil. The start of its construction marks a crucial step for CNOOC's strategic emerging industries from planning to implementation, and explores a new path for the development of strategic emerging industries at CNOOC Tianjin Research Institute.
The construction of this engineering project by CNOOC Tianjin Institute marks that the independent research and development achievements in the field of new chemical materials have entered the industrialization stage. After the project is put into operation, it will create an innovative production system of new chemical materials for oil refining with CNOOC's characteristics, and effectively promote the low-carbon transformation and upgrading of the refining and chemical industry.
