The world's largest appetite for coal, and it's eaten up completely. Recently, news came from the coal gasification technology research and development team of East China University of Science and Technology stationed at the site of the integrated energy conservation and carbon reduction project for the caprolactam industrial chain of Yankuang Lunan Chemical Co., LTD. The world's first industrial demonstration device for 3,000-ton-per-day multi-nozzle opposed (OMB) pulverized coal pressurized gasification technology, jointly developed by East China University of Science and Technology and Shandong Energy Group, was successfully fed in one go on July 21.

It is understood that this gasifier technology has complete independent intellectual property rights. It is another major technological innovation achievement following the close cooperation between East China University of Science and Technology, Shandong Energy Group, China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd. and other units in the development of multi-nozzle opposed water-coal slurry gasification technology through industry-university-research collaboration.

 

Meanwhile, this technology features strong adaptability to coal types, low raw material consumption, advanced technical indicators and ease of large-scale production. It can achieve clean, efficient and low-carbon gasification of low-quality raw coal with high ash melting points, high ash content or poor slurping properties. With the strong support of Shandong Energy Group and the meticulous design and operation of cooperative units such as Yankuang Lunan Chemical Co., Ltd. and China Tianchen Engineering Co., LTD., the industrial demonstration facility has demonstrated outstanding gasification performance: the effective gas content is as high as 92%, the combustible material in the crude slag is as low as 0.1%, and the carbon conversion rate exceeds 99%, basically achieving the "full utilization" of coal.

It is reported that the gasifier technology has been under research and development for over 20 years and has continuously received support from national key science and technology projects, the National "973" Program, the National "863" Program, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The official commissioning of this demonstration device fully demonstrates the outstanding advantages of the multi-nozzle opposed pulverized coal pressurized gasification technology in terms of coal adaptability, high efficiency, large-scale operation and long-term safe and stable operation. It further solidifies the international leading position of East China University of Science and Technology in the field of fluidized bed coal gasification technology It provides a new generation of ultra-large-scale advanced coal gasification technology for the green and low-carbon development of China's modern coal chemical industry.

 

This coal gasification technology research and development team from East China University of Science and Technology has been continuously committed to the fundamental research and applied technology development of carbon-containing material fluidized bed gasification processes and technologies. With the support of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Shanghai Municipal Government, through the integration of industry, academia, and research, We have successfully developed complete gasification technologies for water-coal slurry, pulverized coal, natural gas, coke oven gas, inferior oil (deoiled asphalt), garbage and biomass, and have completed large-scale industrial applications.
