On June 14th, the Hebei Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association organized and held the 2024 North China Petrochemical and Chemical Industry Summit Forum and the Re-election Conference with the theme of "Exchanging Innovative Development Achievements and Cultivating New Quality Productivity". The experts attending the meeting offered suggestions and strategies for the development of the petrochemical and chemical industry in Hebei Province, and exchanged experiences in emergency safety, logistics, planning and other aspects of chemical enterprises.

Zhao Jungui, vice president and secretary-general of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, pointed out that investment decisions in the chemical industry should shift from focusing on short-term profits to emphasizing the formation of long-term competitiveness. The development concept should shift from production-oriented to consumer market-oriented, accelerate the transformation of traditional chemical industries, and strive to form an international comparative advantage for China's chemical industry. Market competition should shift from low-cost zero-sum games to brand premium through industrial chain cooperation, and enhance the integration and innovation of upstream and downstream industries. Technological innovation should shift from following and imitating to self-reliance, self-strengthening and innovation, and cultivate future industries and new quality productive forces. The manufacturing process should shift from high energy, high carbon and high emissions to green, low-carbon, safe and environmentally friendly, and accelerate the coupled development with new energy. The product direction should shift from primary raw material products to refined, specialized, materialized and functional ones. We should promote small and medium-sized enterprises to follow the path of specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative development, cultivate world-class chemical industry industrial chains and systems, and build world-class enterprises, R&D bases and product brands, etc.

At the fifth member congress and the fifth council meeting of Hebei Petrochemical Association held subsequently, Zhang Lijun was elected as the new president and Liu Leping as the vice president and secretary-general.

Regarding the high-quality development direction of the petrochemical industry in Hebei Province, Zhang Lijun proposed that the petrochemical industry in Hebei should accelerate the cultivation of advanced manufacturing clusters, build strategic emerging industry clusters, and gradually form a regional industrial chain development pattern. Actively reduce carbon emissions, develop biochemical engineering, and achieve partial substitution of chemical raw materials. Actively develop green industries and promote their coordinated development with other industries; Carry out the modernization offensive action of the industrial chain, break through key technologies across industries and fields, and enhance the core competitiveness of the industry. Vigorously develop strategic emerging industries and promote the application of new chemical technologies and materials in the field of new energy.

At the meeting, Bu Xinping, Secretary-General of the Chemical New Materials Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, Zheng Baoshan, Vice President of the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute, and others delivered academic reports. Representatives from the participating enterprises and parks also conducted on-site exchanges on aspects such as the intelligentization of emergency safety in the industry.
