Industry experts jointly explore the green development of hydrogen-based energy
On June 7th, the "2024 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo" Hydrogen-based Energy Green Development Forum was held in Shanghai.
It is reported that Shanghai is a pioneer in the development of the hydrogen energy industry, having formed a complete industrial chain layout covering production, storage, transportation, refueling and application, and simultaneously promoting the application of hydrogen energy in multiple fields such as transportation, energy storage, power generation and industry. The forum closely adheres to the theme of "Hydrogen Driving the Future, Carbon Leading the Way", focusing on the latest technological advancements and application cases of hydrogen-based energy, to support the high-quality development of Shanghai's hydrogen energy industry, and to plan "smart strategies" for Shanghai in ensuring energy security and forming new quality productivity.
It is understood that hydrogen-based energy refers to secondary energy formed with "hydrogen" as the carrier under the framework of green energy, such as green ammonia, green methanol, green aviation kerosene, green methane, etc. It is expected to become an important carrier for the green and low-carbon transformation in fields such as chemical engineering, power, navigation, and aviation.
During the forum session, Ni Jianjun, assistant manager of Shanghai Boiler Works Co., LTD., introduced the POWER to X technology and equipment of Shanghai Electric. It was introduced that Shanghai Electric's CCS technology (Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage technology) has been commercially applied in China, with desorption energy consumption as low as 2.3GJ/tCO2, reaching the international advanced level.
Yan Fuhua, General Manager of GE Vernova China's Gas Power Generation Products and Technology, shared the case of GE Vernova's hydrogen-fired gas turbine products and stated that all models in the hydrogen blending combustion technology will have 100% hydrogen combustion capacity by 2030.
Professor Zhao Chen from the School of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at East China Normal University focuses on the research and production of new synthetic technologies for SAF(Sustainable Aviation Fuel). She pointed out that the current global consumption of aviation fuel is 270 million tons per year, with CO2 emissions exceeding 900 million tons, while China's consumption of aviation fuel is 40 million tons per year. By 2050, global aviation carbon emissions will reach approximately 2.6 billion tons. Achieving rapid growth in SAF production has become an urgent issue.
In addition, Zheng Liang, deputy manager of the R&D Center of the 711th Research Institute of China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, Shi Ping, assistant general manager of Zhejiang Laneng Hydrogen Energy Technology Co., LTD., and Ning Limei, deputy general manager of the Investment Department of China Energy Engineering Group East China Institute, respectively delivered speeches on topics such as high-power Marine low-carbon and zero-carbon power technology, hydrogen energy storage and transportation technology routes and prospects, and the layout of green methanol projects.
During the park promotion session, representatives from Shanghai Anting Hydrogen Energy Technology Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Lingang Fengxian Economic Development Co., Ltd. respectively introduced the development of Jiading Hydrogen Energy Port and Lingang International Hydrogen Energy Valley. At present, there are approximately 30 hydrogen energy enterprises in Lingang, with a combined valuation of over 35 billion yuan. It is planned that the output value will exceed 15 billion yuan by 2025. Form a relatively complete hydrogen energy industrial chain. Meanwhile, the internal hydrogen refueling stations, Class A warehouses, hydrogen transmission pipelines, and hydrogen energy industry exhibition halls built within the "International Hydrogen Energy Valley" park have all been completed and delivered.
The person in charge of the Energy Conservation and Comprehensive Utilization Division of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology stated that in the next step, Shanghai will closely follow the development trends of the new round of global technological revolution and industrial transformation, accelerate the breakthrough of core technologies and key materials in hydrogen energy, and speed up the upgrading and expansion of the industry. Guide the diversified application of hydrogen-based energy in a way that suits local conditions, promote the energy consumption transformation of energy-consuming terminals such as transportation and industry, and the green development of high energy-consuming and high-emission industries. Promote the formation of a modern energy supply system featuring diversity, complementarity and integration; Accelerate the development of production capacity layout, infrastructure investment, equipment and technology trade, and further enhance Shanghai's ability to allocate global green energy-related resources.
This forum is guided by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and jointly organized by the Shanghai Energy Efficiency Center, the Shanghai Energy Conservation Association, the Shanghai Green and Low-Carbon Industry Alliance, and Shanghai Energy Conservation Technology Service Co., LTD.
