The hydrogen refueling station of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company has injected new clean impetus into green travel in Ningbo
At about 1:00 p.m. on May 23rd, brand-new buses with the "Hydrogen Energy Bus" logo on their bodies slowly drove out of the Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Hydrogen Refueling Station and started running on the No. 375 bus route in Ningbo, becoming a moving "green sight" on the city streets. The first batch of hydrogen fuel cell buses in Zhenhai District began trial operation this month, marking the official entry of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical's hydrogen refueling station into the regular operation stage of serving urban public transportation.
The hydrogen refueling station of Sinopec Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company has a designed hydrogen refueling capacity of 2,500 kilograms per 12 hours and is capable of providing stable hydrogen supply for large vehicles such as hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks and hydrogen-powered buses. It serves as the core guarantee for the demonstration operation of hydrogen-powered buses in Ningbo City. The buses put into use this time can travel up to 300 kilometers after being refueled with hydrogen in about 15 minutes each, fully demonstrating the significant advantages of hydrogen fuel in terms of high efficiency and zero emissions.
Since the completion of the first hydrogen refueling demonstration station in Ningbo in 2021, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical has been committed to building an integrated hydrogen energy industrial chain covering "hydrogen production - transportation - storage - refueling - utilization", continuously optimizing the related process equipment and operation mechanism of hydrogen refueling, and promoting the construction of the largest hydrogen source supply center in Zhejiang Province in three phases. In 2024, it obtained the first gas operation license in Zhejiang Province, pressing the accelerator for the high-quality development of the local hydrogen energy industry.

" A staff member at the hydrogen refueling station of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company told reporters, "Currently, there are about twenty vehicles every day. Besides buses, there are also coaches and heavy-duty logistics trucks." . It is reported that even before the hydrogen-powered buses were launched, Zhenhai Refining & Chemical Company had been actively promoting the layout of hydrogen energy in multiple transportation and industrial scenarios. Now, 30 hydrogen-powered buses have become an important part of the green commuting of the company's employees, while more hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks have been applied on a large scale in the transportation of polyolefin products, opening up a "cross-city hydrogen energy logistics corridor" in the Yangtze River Delta region.
According to statistics, currently, 110 hydrogen energy vehicles have been officially put into operation in Zhenhai District. Zhenhai Refining & Chemical has deepened its cooperation with Ningbo Public Transport Group Zhenhai Company, Zhejiang Kunhua New Energy Technology Co., LTD., Zhejiang CRRC Electric Vehicle Co., LTD., and Petrochemical Logistics, among others. Through collaborative innovation, it has continuously accelerated the transition of hydrogen energy from technological reserves to application scenarios, injecting new impetus into the city's pursuit of the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" goals.
At present, hydrogen energy has been included in the strategic emerging industries that Zhenhai District focuses on developing. Relying on the industrial foundation and technological accumulation of Zhenhai Refining & Chemical, Zhenhai District is accelerating the construction of "Zhaobao Hydrogen Valley", promoting the formation of an industrial ecosystem featuring coordinated development of hydrogen energy production, storage and transportation, application, and equipment manufacturing. Zhenhai Refining & Chemical not only provides a stable supply of hydrogen, but also continuously outputs "hydrogen energy solutions" in aspects such as standard setting, demonstration operation, and cooperation models.
