The 6th International Conference on Liquefied Natural Gas in Asia Pacific 2011
The "6th International Conference on Asia-Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas" hosted by the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Association was held at the InterContinental Hotel in Shanghai from October 26 to 27, 2011. More than 150 representatives from all over the world attended the meeting.
The first day's meeting was chaired by Liu Junan, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of our association, and Liu Genyuan, Executive Vice Chairman, delivered the opening speech. In his opening speech, he said: "Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is a form of natural gas utilization, and has received more and more attention in the global energy market over the years. In recent years, global production and trade of LNG have become increasingly active. In the next decade, global funds for the development of LNG will reach US$100 billion, and investment in LNG will become one of the world's largest investment trends."
Luo Ming, vice chairman of our Research Association, attended the meeting and listened to the conference report for two days. This session specially invited Director Bao Chunli of the Industrial Policy Department of the China National Offshore Oil Corporation Energy Economics Research Institute to give a special report on "Opportunities and Challenges of the Asia-Pacific LNG Market for China". Mao Jiaxiang, executive director of our association and vice president of China Petroleum and Chemical Economic and Technical Research Institute, was invited by the conference to give a special report on "China's Natural Gas LNG Supply and Demand Trend". They (they) summarized the development trend of China's LNG from different perspectives.
In Asia, with the rapid development of LNG markets in countries such as China and India, the pattern of the Asia-Pacific LNG consumer market dominated by Japan and South Korea is undergoing significant changes. How to obtain supply guarantees for domestic LNG projects around the world has become the focus of Asian buyers. In the Asia-Pacific region, LNG projects under construction or planned emerged, and the Asia-Pacific region has become the most active region in the global LNG market. After the 2011 Japan tsunami disaster, the demand for alternative fuel for nuclear reactors has increased significantly, and the demand for LNG by Japan and other LNG importers will further increase, and the Asia-Pacific and global LNG markets will rise strongly.
For China, due to the inhomogeneity of the distribution of natural gas resources and the strong energy demand fostered by China's rapid economic development, especially the high-quality pursuit of environmental protection in coastal developed regions with energy scarcity, China's LNG industry will give full play to its long-distance and non-pipe transmission characteristics, and will achieve high-speed and unstoppable leapfrog development in recent years, and then evolve into an indispensable and important energy pillar for China. According to the forecast of the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, my country's natural gas consumption will reach 250 billion cubic meters by 2020, and the domestic supply and demand gap will also become larger and larger.
This Asia-Pacific Liquefied Natural Gas International Summit takes the booming LNG project in the Asia-Pacific region as the core, focusing on specific projects, and continues to create a face-to-face communication platform for industry experts, scholars, executives and entrepreneurs. Through both supply and demand, the latest market trends and development investment directions are reflected; through the practical application of cutting-edge core technologies and engineering equipment in the project, advanced experience and industry development trends are shared; through meetings with core decision makers in the project, more cooperation opportunities are created. The delegates warmly and earnestly made speeches and post-session exchanges. The meeting atmosphere was strong, harmonious and pragmatic. (Draft of Secretariat).
