Regional collaboration injects energy into the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry
On November 19th, the 16th National Petroleum and Chemical Industry Work Symposium and the first Symposium on the Coordinated Development of the Petrochemical Industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region were held in Tianjin, concurrently with the 2024 China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Private Economy High-Quality Development Conference. At the meeting, the heads of industry management institutions and associations from various regions, as well as the heads of professional associations, discussed the coordinated development of regional economies and the integrated development strategy of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region in order to promote the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry.
Promoting coordinated regional economic development is an inevitable requirement for high-quality development. We must firmly follow a new path of optimized layout, self-disciplined production capacity, and coordinated and cooperative regional economic development, and strive to promote the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and the regional economy. Fu Xiangsheng, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, pointed out that the "15th Five-Year Plan" period will be a crucial stage for China's petrochemical industry to move from a major country to a powerful one. Facing the numerous challenges brought about by the accelerated transformation of energy and profound changes in industries, as well as the new requirements for the petrochemical industry in comprehensively advancing the construction of a strong country through Chinese-style modernization, it is necessary to vigorously carry forward the fine traditions of the petrochemical industry, strengthen unity, deepen cooperation, and jointly undertake the historical mission of building a strong petrochemical country.
Meanwhile, Fu Xiangsheng stated that the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation is willing to enhance information sharing and cooperation with local industry associations and professional associations in areas such as regional economic project layout, information release, capacity early warning, and industry self-discipline. It will continue to build a communication and exchange platform for the entire industry and provide services for the coordinated and high-quality development of the regional economy in the petrochemical industry.
Tianjin has favorable conditions to support the coordinated development of the petrochemical industry in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Sun Wenxiu, deputy director of the Development and Reform Commission of Tianjin Municipality, said that Tianjin is an important petrochemical industrial base and a research and production base for new chemical materials in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The "Outline of the Plan for Coordinated Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region" proposes to build a world-class petrochemical industrial base in Nangang District, Tianjin. As a national advanced manufacturing and research and development base, Tianjin is currently taking the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region as a strategic guide, actively developing the green petrochemical industry chain, and concentrating efforts on building the Nangang Chemical New Materials Base and the green petrochemical industry cluster area.
In the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, Hebei Province attaches great importance to technological cooperation and breakthroughs with Beijing and Tianjin. According to Zhang Lijun, the president of the Hebei Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association, universities in Hebei have joined hands with those in Tianjin and Beijing to jointly establish a chemical laboratory and a chemical pilot base in Hebei Province. Next, the petrochemical industry in Hebei Province will make good use of the policy of integrated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, deepen close cooperation with Tianjin and Beijing, and continuously strengthen the strength of the chemical industry in Hebei.
At the meeting, the heads of industry management institutions and associations from various regions, the heads of professional associations, and enterprise representatives also exchanged views on the economic operation and key tasks of their respective industries in 2024, and shared and discussed the common problems existing in local economic and enterprise development.
