On February 23rd, the Xinjiang Energy and Chemical Industry Zhundong Coal and Chemical Integration Project, with a planned total investment of 33.8 billion yuan, broke ground in the Zhundong Economic and Technological Development Zone of Xinjiang.

The Xinjiang Energy and Chemical Industry's Zhundong Coal and Chemical Integration Project includes an 800,000-ton coal-to-olefins project per year, the first phase of the No. 4 open-pit mine in the Zhundong Wucaiwan mining area, the coal and chemical integration railway dedicated line project, and the Zhundong Wucaiwan New Town Life Center project that are in line with it.

The 800,000-ton coal-to-olefins project covers an area of 4,052 mu. It uses coal from the No. 4 open-pit mine of Wucaiwan as raw material and adopts the 3,000-ton/day OMB(multi-nozzle opposed) new semi-waste gasification technology for pulverized coal with independent intellectual property rights owned by Shandong Energy Group, as well as advanced MTO(methanol-to-olefins) processes and technologies at home and abroad. After the project is completed, all production indicators will be at the leading level in the industry.

The first phase project of the No. 4 open-pit mine in the Wucaiwan mining area of Zhundong covers an area of 96.88 square kilometers, with a designed raw coal output of 2.958 billion tons, an annual production capacity of 23 million tons, and a designed service life of 128.6 years.

The Shandong Energy Yankuang Xinjiang Energy Chemical Zhundong Coal Chemical Integrated Railway Dedicated Line Project is a dedicated transportation railway for the No. 4 Open-pit Coal Mine and the 800,000-ton/year coal-to-olefins project, designed as a single-track railway. The line connects to the Zhundong Station of the Wujiang Railway and links to the newly-built Shanneng Chemical Station. The entire line is 24.37 kilometers long, with a designed speed of 80 kilometers per hour and a designed transportation capacity of 35 million tons per year.

It is understood that Xinjiang Energy and Chemical Industry has been developing and constructing in Xinjiang for over two decades, with a total investment of 38 billion yuan. It has completed a number of coal, coal-to-gas, coal-to-alcohol and ammonia and other coal chemical conversion projects, and blazed a trail of green coal mining, efficient conversion and clean utilization.
