The 7th World Oil Traders Conference was held

On October 17th, the plenary session of the 7th World Oil Traders Conference (IPEC 2024) was held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province. Experts attending the meeting pointed out that in recent years, Zhoushan has relied on the free trade zone, focused on the entire oil and gas industry chain, and built the largest oil and gas energy security base, green petrochemical base and oil and gas trading port in the country. At the same time, it has built the world's fourth largest international ship berthing port. In the future, Zhoushan will accelerate the building of a hub for the allocation of bulk commodity resources, construct an oil and gas storage and transportation hub, a cluster of bulk commodity processing industries and a trade trading center, optimize the business environment, promote investment facilitation and trade liberalization, embrace new opportunities for global enterprises and projects to share, and build a globally shared oil and gas industrial chain.

Li Yunpeng, the Party Secretary of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, in his speech, introduced the favorable momentum of the development of China's oil and gas industry and the multiple breakthroughs made in promoting the low-carbon transformation of energy. He suggested that China's oil and gas industry should be more proactive in deepening global energy cooperation, pragmatically promote high-level opening up to the outside world, and gradually deepen global energy cooperation.

According to relevant data, domestic oil and gas equivalent production exceeded 390 million tons in 2023, maintaining a rapid growth of over 10 million tons for seven consecutive years. At the same time, it actively transformed energy consumption patterns, including oil and gas utilization, and significantly improved energy utilization efficiency. With an average annual growth rate of about 3.3% in energy consumption, it supported an average annual growth rate of over 6% in the national economy.

China's economic and social development has entered a high-quality development stage characterized by green and low-carbon. The oil and gas industry needs to combine its own reality, vigorously promote clean and efficient utilization, and strive to reduce the carbon emission intensity throughout the life cycle of oil and gas products. China's oil and gas industry is making plans for major projects that integrate the oil and gas industry with green electricity, green hydrogen, green alcohol and green ammonia based on local conditions. Industry enterprises represented by China National Petroleum Corporation, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation and China National Offshore Oil Corporation have made significant breakthroughs in the research and development and innovation of related core technologies, and have built and operated multiple demonstration projects. It has strongly promoted the green and low-carbon transformation of energy and the work of addressing climate change. Li Yunpeng said.

The Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China proposed, "Support regions with conditions in building international logistics hub centers and bulk commodity resource allocation hubs," which has brought significant opportunities for the open development of Zhejiang and Zhoushan. It is understood that in recent years, Zhejiang has been deeply implementing the strategy of upgrading the free trade zone and has achieved a series of remarkable results in the development of the oil and gas industry and other fields. Zhoushan is an important open node for China to jointly build the "Belt and Road Initiative". National strategies such as the national-level new area, the free trade zone, and the river-sea combined transport service center have been successively implemented in Zhoushan. It has become a highland for institutional innovation in the national oil and gas industry and the development of the entire oil and gas industry chain.

At the meeting, 18 major projects were signed on the spot, with agreements involving a total amount of 39.5 billion yuan, covering areas such as petrochemical new materials, oil and gas storage and transportation, oil and gas trade, and maritime services.

This conference is hosted by the CPC Zhoushan Municipal Committee and the Zhoushan Municipal People's Government, and is guided by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, the China Mining Association, the China Petroleum Circulation Association, and the China Chamber of Commerce of Metals, Minerals & Chemicals Importers & Exporters. The conference attracted 330 domestic and foreign enterprises to participate, including 40 Fortune Global 500 companies and 26 of the world's top 50 oil companies.
