A working conference on the construction of professional capabilities in the petrochemical industry was held
From March 20th to 22nd, the 2025 National Conference on Vocational Capacity Building in the Petroleum and Chemical Industry was held in Yueyang, Hunan Province.
Zheng Baoshan, the administrative director of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, said that the construction of a skilled talent team is of vital importance to supporting the development of the petrochemical industry. The cultivation of skilled talents should deepen the integration of industry and education and improve the quality of training. It is necessary to highlight the skills orientation and build a scientific and reasonable talent evaluation system. It is necessary to enhance publicity and guidance to foster a favorable atmosphere of respecting skilled talents.
Shen Lei, director of the Chemical Industry Vocational Skills Appraisal Guidance Center, reviewed the achievements made by the appraisal center over the past 30 years in talent evaluation, system construction, brand building and model establishment. He focused on summarizing the work achievements of the petrochemical industry in vocational capacity building in 2024 and planned the key tasks for 2025. She stated that in 2024, the appraisal center will continue to play a leading role in the industry in policy promotion, talent cultivation, team building, standard development, skills competitions, and research projects. Against the backdrop of national strategic demands, industrial transformation, and the technological revolution, it will firmly adhere to the tenet of "serving enterprises and workers". Looking forward to 2025, the appraisal center will continue to strengthen the construction of technical systems such as occupational standards, question banks and teaching materials, and focus on developing talent cultivation resources in the field of new chemical materials. It will achieve new breakthroughs in playing the role of a think tank, optimizing the structure of the industry's skilled talent team, serving the industry in overcoming difficulties, international exchanges and going global.
During the conference, the "Craftsmanship Inheritance, Skills for the Country" Craftsmen Lecture Hall was officially launched. This activity aims to foster a favorable atmosphere of respecting and valuing skills, set up role models for young people, guide more workers to take the path of achieving success and serving the country through skills, and contribute to the high-quality development of the petrochemical industry.
In addition, the conference invited experts from the industry, enterprises, research institutes and scholars from universities to share their insightful views on themes such as the digital development of the petrochemical field and the construction of skilled talent teams. More than 240 representatives attended the conference.

Offshore Oil Fudao Co., LTD., and Sun Qiao, a national technical expert, a "Petrochemical Young Post Expert" of Sinopec Group, and a senior technician at Sinopec Tianjin Branch. Cao Kuan, a National Technical Expert, recipient of the National May 1st Labor Medal, Model Worker of China National Petroleum Corporation, and Senior Technician of Jilin Petrochemical Construction and Maintenance Company of China National Petroleum Corporation, Lu Jingyi, the champion of the 47th WorldSkills Competition in the Chemical Laboratory Technology event and the Asian representative of the WorldSkills Organization 2025-2026 Champion Liaison Group, from Henan Chemical Technician College Yuan Ming, a national technical expert and the technical director of Shenyang Tiffany Decoration Engineering Co., LTD., along with five skilled craftsmen, had face-to-face exchanges with over 400 young students, sharing their growth stories and discussing issues such as skill learning, career planning, and the spirit of craftsmanship. They provided guidance to the young students with their personal experiences and professional knowledge.
