Recently, as all the indicators of the carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyol products have reached the preset requirements, The first batch of "National Green and Low-Carbon Advanced Technology Demonstration Projects" - the 300,000-ton carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyol project (Phase I) of Anhui Putan New Materials Technology Co., LTD., located in Huainan Modern Coal Chemical Industry Park by Hefei Puli Advanced Materials Technology Co., LTD., has successfully completed the trial run of feedstock, filling the gap in domestic industries related to carbon dioxide resource utilization and carbon neutrality.

The Anhui Putan project with an annual output of 300,000 tons of carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyols has a total investment of approximately 2 billion yuan and covers an area of about 500 mu. The project will be constructed in two phases. After the project is completed and put into operation, it can effectively fix about 180,000 tons of carbon dioxide, with an estimated annual sales revenue of about 7.5 billion yuan, an annual tax revenue of about 300 million yuan, and is expected to create 400 jobs. Among them, the first phase of the project covers an area of 150 mu and has an investment of approximately 600 million yuan. It will build a production facility with an annual output of 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyols and supporting facilities. It can effectively fix about 26,300 tons of carbon dioxide annually and is currently the largest carbon dioxide-based polyol facility in the world. The device has now officially entered the commissioning stage and is expected to be put into production in the first quarter of 2025. After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected to generate an annual sales revenue of 1.5 billion yuan, an annual tax revenue of approximately 60 million yuan, and create 150 new jobs.

MAO Hongbing, the chairman of Puli Materials, introduced that Puli Materials actively responds to the national "dual carbon" policy. With a forward-looking perspective, it has laid out the technical route and business segments of carbon dioxid-based polyols. Taking the high-value utilization of carbon dioxide as its core competitiveness, it has built an efficient and highly selective catalytic system, explored the activation, reaction and catalytic mechanism of catalysts, and achieved precise regulation of products. Realize the integration of carbon dioxide utilization and new materials. The enterprise focuses on the resource utilization of carbon dioxide and is committed to developing new carbon dioxide-based materials such as carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyols (PCE), propylene carbonate (PC), and degradable materials (PPC), providing high-performance import substitution products. Compared with traditional materials, the new carbon dioxide-based materials generated by Puli materials have been widely applied due to their unique structure and excellent performance. The main product of the project contains more than 30% carbon dioxide and has good performance indicators such as water resistance, tensile strength, tear strength and wear resistance. It can replace traditional petroleum products in the production of synthetic materials and is widely used in the construction, furniture and home decoration, automotive interiors, clothing, insulation, degradable materials, new energy and electronics industries. It has become a key focus of the current polyurethane industry on carbon neutrality solutions and related technological innovation demonstration projects.

In 2024, the 300,000-ton carbon dioxide-based polycarbonate polyol project (Phase I) of Puli Materials was selected into the first batch of the National "List of Advanced Green and Low-Carbon Technology Demonstration Projects", and the "Preparation Technology of Carbon Dioxide-based Polycarbonate Polyether Polyol" was included in the "2024 Directory of Green and Low-Carbon Products, Technologies and Suppliers" of Anhui Province.

Chen Shengyue, the deputy general manager of Puli Materials, told reporters that Puli Materials attaches great importance to the construction of independent intellectual property rights and continuously invests a large amount of resources to ensure technological innovation and the effective transformation of scientific research achievements. The company not only attaches great importance to the in-depth development of basic research, but also promotes the continuous iteration and upgrading of technology by strengthening cooperation with universities. The company has established a high-level and professional R&D team and has now formed a complete technological innovation chain, which promotes the continuous improvement of the enterprise's competitiveness in the industry.
