Fifteen new Wells have been put into operation one after another! The Fuling Shale Gas Field produces over 25 million cubic meters of gas per day

On January 15th, it was learned from the press office of Sinopec that recently, the temperature in the Yangtze River Basin has been continuously dropping. As one of the main gas sources for the eastward transmission of Sichuan gas, the Fuling Shale Gas Field has been operating at full capacity, successively putting 15 new Wells into production, with a daily gas output exceeding 25 million cubic meters, setting a new record for the supply season this year. It can meet the daily gas needs of nearly 50 million households. Deliver green and clean energy to the Yangtze River Economic Belt and contribute positively to achieving the "dual carbon" goals.

 

 

 

Actively accelerate the pace of capacity building. To enhance the capacity for ensuring natural gas supply, the Fuling Shale Gas Field has actively deployed the integrated operation of production capacity construction, coordinated the construction of power, pipelines, cables and other facilities, widely promoted modular and integrated skid-mounted gas production equipment, and continuously accelerated the commissioning speed of new Wells. Meanwhile, all participating construction units have intensified their coordination efforts, carefully prepared emergency response plans, and raced against time to complete all the work related to the commissioning of new Wells, ensuring the successful one-time commissioning of 15 new Wells and an additional daily gas supply capacity of 600,000 cubic meters.

 

Steadily advance the "long-life" project. After more than ten years of development, the Fuling Shale Gas Field has faced challenges such as a rapid decline in production in the old area and a heavy task of ensuring natural gas supply. The technical team has strictly implemented the "one zone, one policy" and "one well, one policy", built and put into use a digital and intelligent gas reservoir management platform, and iteratively upgraded the drainage and gas production technology system. As a result, the comprehensive decline rate of the Fuling Shale Gas Field has always been kept within 12%. All development indicators remain leading in the industry, effectively extending the production life of the gas field and improving the efficiency of resource utilization. In 2024, the output of old Wells in the Fuling Shale Gas Field exceeded 7.7 billion cubic meters, serving as the "ballast stone" for ensuring natural gas supply during the winter.

 

The Fuling Shale Gas field leads the shale revolution in the East. China has the resource characteristics of "abundant coal, scarce oil and limited gas". It has long been a major importer of oil and gas. The exploration and development of shale gas is of great strategic significance to China's energy pattern. Sinopec has actively taken on the responsibility of finding gas for the country. At the end of 2012, it achieved an exploration breakthrough in Fuling, kicking off the commercial development of shale gas in China. As China's first large-scale shale gas field to achieve commercial development, the Fuling Shale Gas Field was put into commercial development in March 2014 and was completed with an annual production capacity of 10 billion cubic meters as scheduled in 2017. The gas field has accumulated proven geological reserves of over 1 trillion cubic meters of shale gas. In 2024, its annual output is expected to reach 8.5 billion cubic meters, and the annual output of shale oil will exceed 30,000 tons for the first time. It continuously supplies green and clean energy to over 200 million residents in more than 70 cities along the Yangtze River Economic Belt. It is of great significance for promoting the adjustment of the energy structure and alleviating the supply pressure of the natural gas market in the central and eastern regions of our country.
