First set! Wanhua Chemical has brought more good news
At 23:55 on January 13th, good news came from Yantai, Shandong Province. The first 250,000-ton/year LDPE plant of Wanhua Chemical, which was contracted by Global Daqing Company, successfully completed the entire process and produced qualified products, marking the successful one-time feeding and start-up of the project.
The LDPE plant of Wanhua Chemical adopts the LUPOTECH TS tubular reactor technology of LyondellBasell Company, with an annual output of 250,000 tons of low-density polyethylene (LDPE) homopolymer resin. The operating flexibility ranges from 95% to 105%, and there are 17 product grades. The products are mainly used in injection molded products, medical devices, pharmaceutical and food packaging, agricultural films and cable materials, etc.
The LDPE tubular reactor technology uses ethylene as the raw material, propylene and propionaldehyde as melt index regulators, and peroxide as the initiator. It adopts single-point feeding of ethylene and four-point injection of the initiator into the pulse reactor. The reaction pressure is extremely high (265MPa to 285MPa), and the reaction temperature is relatively high (260 to 310℃). It features a large number of imported equipment, complex process flow, high degree of automation, compact site layout, and great difficulty in construction organization and coordination.
The construction of this facility officially began on August 22, 2022. It will be completed and handed over to high standards on November 29, 2024. On January 6, 2025, the system replacement, ethylene intermodal transportation and air tightness inspection of the device were completed. At 22:18 on January 13th, the initiator was injected to establish the reaction, and at 22:55, qualified low-density polyethylene particles were successfully produced.
