The new energy battery industrial cluster in Yangquan City focuses on both lithium and sodium battery tracks
On the morning of December 3rd, the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and the Information Office of the Shanxi Provincial People's Government organized and held the 25th press conference of the series on "Promoting High-Quality Development and Deepening All-round Transformation". Liu Wenhua, the deputy secretary of the CPC Yangquan Municipal Committee and the mayor of Yangquan, Guo Jianwen, the member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Yangquan Municipal Committee and the executive vice mayor, Li Jun, the vice mayor, and Shi Zheng, the vice mayor, introduced the situation.
Liu Wenhua, the deputy secretary of the CPC Yangquan Municipal Committee and the mayor of Yangquan, introduced that in recent years, the city has been committed to accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system. Based on its own resource endowment and industrial foundation, it has accelerated the pace of new industrialization, focused on building "three clusters and two bases", and strived to cultivate new drivers of transformation and development. The first is to focus on building a digital economy industrial cluster. The second is to focus on building a new energy battery industrial cluster. The third is to focus on building a high-end equipment manufacturing industrial cluster. Fourth, we will focus on building a clean energy supply base. The fifth is to focus on building a demonstration base for the comprehensive utilization of bulk solid waste.
In terms of building a new energy battery industrial cluster, Liu Wenhua emphasized that Yangquan City has focused on the dual tracks of lithium batteries and sodium batteries, and has laid out and constructed the upstream and downstream industrial chains of lithium battery positive and negative electrode materials, electrolytes, and battery assembly, gathering a number of leading enterprises in the industry such as BTR and Duofu. Warner Xinneng's 1GWh sodium-ion battery cell production line has been put into operation. The world's first batch of sodium-ion battery electric two-wheelers have rolled off the production line for commercial use. The large-capacity sodium-ion battery emergency power supply product for coal mines has been officially released. Yangquan has been rated as one of the top ten cities in China for the innovative development of sodium-ion batteries.
Liu Wenhua said that in recent years, Yangquan City has also been promoting the large-scale development of diversified energy storage with flexibility as the support. As an important measure to enhance the regulation capacity of the power system, Yangquan City has planned and laid out various forms of energy storage projects, including pumped storage, chemical energy storage, and mechanical energy storage. The 200,000-kilowatt Qingyulan and 100,000-kilowatt Hongshengtong independent energy storage projects have been completed and connected to the grid. A number of projects, including the 1.4 million-kilowatt pumped storage power station in Shangshe and the 100,000-kilowatt sodium-ion energy storage + 5,000-kilowatt flywheel energy storage project in Huayang, are being accelerated. It is expected that by the end of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the city's energy storage capacity will reach the one million kilowatt level, achieving rapid development from nothing to something and from something to excellence.
