Since the selection of manufacturing single-champion enterprises by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology was launched, the petrochemical industry has produced 219 single-champion enterprises, ranking third among all industries. This is the data obtained by the reporter from the second Forum on the Gradient Cultivation and Development of High-Quality Petrochemical Enterprises and the Experience Exchange Meeting of Single Champion Enterprises held in Binhai New Area, Tianjin on November 19th. The meeting pointed out that the petrochemical industry should accelerate the cultivation of single-champion enterprises with prominent main business, strong competitiveness, good growth potential and strong innovation capabilities, and promote the high-quality development of the industry to a higher level.

Li Bin, vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, pointed out in his speech that accelerating the development of single-champion and small giant enterprises is an inevitable requirement for stimulating the vitality of market entities and promoting high-quality development of the industry. Single-champion and small giant enterprises play an indispensable role in promoting new industrialization and facilitating the high-end development of industrial foundations and the modernization of industrial chains. It has played a positive role in promoting the green, sustainable and high-quality development of the entire industry, and in China's leap from a major chemical country to a powerful one.

Zhang Li, a second-level inspector of the Tianjin Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, said that currently, Tianjin has 223 national-level specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative enterprises and 2,069 municipal-level such enterprises. As the birthplace of modern chemical industry, Tianjin enjoys development advantages in industries, ports, transportation, education, etc. It has identified green petrochemicals as a key industry for the city's development. With the efforts and promotion of major petrochemical enterprises and universities and research institutions, a petrochemical and chemical industry system and cluster have now been formed.

In recent years, in the "Single Champion" cultivation and selection activities organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a large number of single champions with strong competitiveness have emerged in the petrochemical industry. According to Guo Jiahai, deputy director of the Office of Manufacturing Single Champions of the China Federation of Industrial Economics, there are currently 1,557 single champion enterprises across the country, among which 219 are in the petrochemical industry, accounting for 14.1%, distributed in 24 provinces and 87 cities. Among them, Shandong Province topped the list of provinces with 58, and Ningbo City ranked first among cities with 14.

At present, there is still a huge gap between the development of fine chemicals in China and that of foreign countries. How should China's petrochemical enterprises develop in the future? Experts attending the conference put forward insightful suggestions from different directions.

Tang Shengxiu, deputy director of the Quality, Safety and Environmental Protection Department of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, pointed out that as a pillar industry, the petrochemical industry has very high requirements for R&D investment and technological innovation. Moreover, due to its industry particularity, it also has higher standards for the environment, safety and other aspects. Therefore, petrochemical enterprises should attach great importance to the cultivation of the comprehensive quality of personnel, and constantly improve the level of quality, safety, environmental protection and research and development efficiency.

Senior chemical expert Yang Xianghong believes that in the face of opportunities and challenges, it is imperative for enterprises to innovate and launch new products. However, innovation should not be blind; it is essential to grasp the right direction and the right trend. At present, the chemical industry is moving towards new energy, lightweighting and other directions. Emerging fields such as silicon-based new materials and nylon elastomers have huge potential for development in the future.

Strengthening quality management is an important way to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises. Li Xubo, deputy director of the Special Project Office of the Fifth Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, believes that the manufacturing industry is currently facing problems such as insufficient operational effectiveness of quality management systems. It is necessary to grade the quality management level of enterprises, which is conducive to helping enterprises identify gaps, make up for shortcomings and strengthen weak points.

Zhou Hongning, the chief professional engineer of the China Aviation Comprehensive Technology Research Institute and the head of the industrial brand cultivation expert group of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, believes that in the "intra-industry competition" market environment, for enterprises to enhance their profitability, they need to create differentiated products and build brands, thereby establishing connections with customers. Building a brand requires a rich and complete system design. Petrochemical brands can enhance the trustworthiness and value of their products through specific names or logos.

The chemical industry has given rise to new drivers of high-quality development during its transformation, and a number of chemical enterprises with "green content", "innovative content" and "gold content" have flourished. Typical enterprises such as Huafeng Group and Xingfa Group shared their unique secrets for innovative development.

Zou Zongjun, the deputy general manager of Huafeng Group, a representative of single-champion enterprises, said that the secret to becoming a single-champion and achieving continuous high-quality development lies in innovation. Through the development model of introducing advanced technologies, absorbing and utilizing them for re-innovation, Huafeng Group has not only enriched its business types and product lines, but also contributed to enhancing its risk resistance, profitability and sustainable development capabilities. At present, Huafeng's products are sold to over 110 countries and regions around the world, and the market share of some of its products leads the industry.

Xingfa Group, a recipient of the China Industry Award and a chemical enterprise along the Yangtze River, has always emphasized environmental protection and sustainable development in its development process. It has blazed a trail of innovative development that is green, refined and high-end.

This exchange meeting is hosted by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and the People's Government of Tianjin Binhai New Area. The meeting was presided over by Ding Shiyu, Director of the Quality Division of the Quality, Safety and Environmental Protection Department of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation.
