The first 60,000-ton PBST industrial demonstration project was put into operation in Hainan
Recently, the industrial demonstration project of polybutylene terephthalate (PBST) biodegradable materials of Sinopec (Hainan) Polyester New Materials Co., Ltd. was put into trial operation and successfully produced qualified products. At present, fully biodegradable products made from this material are under trial use.
The company was established with the investment of Hainan Refining & Chemical, Yizheng Chemical Fiber and Hainan Yangpu Holding Co., LTD. This project is the world's first 60,000-ton-per-year continuous production industrial demonstration facility for PBST biodegradable new materials that Sinopec has laid out in Hainan Province. The project adopts a complete set of process technologies with independent intellectual property rights of Sinopec. Compared with the PBAT(polybutylene adipate) biodegradable materials that are widely used in China at present, PBST materials have superior mechanical strength, heat resistance and water resistance, and can be widely applied in agriculture, forestry, food packaging, medical and health care and other industries, with broad market prospects. After the project goes into production, it fills the gap in the biodegradable plastic industrial chain and market in Hainan, and contributes to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the continuous deepening of the plastic ban across the island.
