The Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen Carbon Reduction Demonstration Zone of the National Energy Group has successfully produced qualified green hydrogen
On August 2nd, the Yongli Hydrogen Production Plant of the first phase project of the Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen Carbon Reduction Demonstration Zone of the National Energy Group successfully produced qualified green hydrogen, achieving a successful one-time feedstock start-up of the project.

On August 5th, the Yongli Hydrogen Production Plant transported qualified green hydrogen through pipelines to the adjacent Yongli Comprehensive Energy Station for refueling by various vehicle types such as hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks, passenger cars, and municipal sanitation vehicles. At the same time, relying on the detection advantages of the first domestic hydrogen quality mobile detection vehicle developed by the Hydrogen Energy Research Institute of the National Energy Group, it completed the online detection of hydrogen quality throughout the entire life cycle. This marks the successful completion of the first domestic hydrogen energy full industrial chain innovation ecosystem project integrating green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling and hydrogen quality testing.
It is understood that the Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen Carbon Reduction Demonstration Zone Project of the National Energy Group is constructed by the Ningxia Branch of Guohua Investment (Hydrogen Energy Company) of the National Energy Group. The total investment of the first phase of the project is approximately 3.8 billion yuan, including 500,000 kilowatts of photovoltaic power, 120,000 kilowatts of hydrogen production photovoltaic power, and two hydrogen production plants with a total capacity of 20,000 standard cubic meters per hour. Two hydrogen refueling stations with a total capacity of 4,000 kilograms per day have been built, and hydrogen-powered heavy-duty trucks have been purchased for the transportation of coal, solid waste, etc. The second-phase project includes the 1.1 supporting demonstration project of the National Key Project, which plans to build a 1,697-ton-per-year hydrogen plant with an investment of approximately 390 million yuan. It is scheduled to be completed in 2025, supporting the application of green hydrogen in the chemical and transportation scenarios of Ningxia Coal Industry and Ningxia Power.

Yongli Hydrogen Production Plant is an important component of the first-phase project and also a demonstration hydrogen production plant for the key scientific research project of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, "Research and Development of Renewable Energy AC/DC Coupled Hydrogen Production System". By leveraging the unique solar energy resource advantages of Ningxia and the local consumption application scenarios of Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base, it converts light energy into green hydrogen energy. Promote carbon reduction and emission reduction in coal chemical energy bases. This hydrogen production plant is also the first of its kind in the country as a demonstration project for five-to-one electrolytic water hydrogen production with a kilowatt-level capacity. It is also the first hydrogen production plant project in China to use all IGBT hydrogen production power supplies and put them into operation. After its commissioning, it marks the initial success of the largest green hydrogen production and consumption base of the State Energy Group, forming a complete industrial chain covering hydrogen production from renewable energy, green hydrogen substitution in coal chemical industry, hydrogen storage and transportation, hydrogen refueling and application of hydrogen energy vehicles in Ningdong. It has created the "first" pure renewable energy hydrogen production and green hydrogen coupling coal chemical demonstration project of the National Energy Group, the first innovative ecological project of the entire hydrogen energy industry chain in Ningxia, and the "first" innovative ecological project of the entire hydrogen energy industry chain in China that integrates green hydrogen production, storage, transportation, refueling, application and hydrogen quality detection.

The first phase of the Ningdong Renewable Hydrogen and Carbon Emission Reduction Demonstration Zone project fully explores the hydrogen usage scenarios in the Ningdong Energy and Chemical Industry Base. Starting from the demand for energy conservation and carbon reduction, it explores a new model of green energy supply and enhances the regional capacity for absorbing new energy. After the project is put into operation, it will effectively promote the transformation of gray hydrogen to green, hydrogen for coal, and green hydrogen for carbon reduction. On average, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 836,400 tons per year. During the 25-year operation period, the carbon dioxide reduction is about 20.91 million tons. It has significant demonstration significance for the National Energy Group to cultivate and develop new quality productivity, promote the transformation and upgrading of the local energy industry, and contribute to the realization of the carbon neutrality goal.
