The 5,000-ton battery-grade lithium carbonate project in Shanxi Province has been put into operation
Recently, the first phase of the Zhongji Chenghang lithium Carbonate Purification Project located in Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, has been officially put into operation.
This project is a key investment attraction project in Pingding County focusing on strategic emerging industries. It is constructed by Shanxi Zhongji Chenghang New Energy Co., Ltd. with a planned investment of 120 million yuan and a designed annual production capacity of 5,000 tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate.
It is introduced that battery-grade lithium carbonate is an important cathode material for lithium-ion batteries, mainly used in the preparation of lithium cobalt oxide, lithium manganese oxide and lithium iron phosphate and other lithium-ion batteries. With the popularization of electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles, the market demand for battery-grade lithium carbonate will also increase.
During the project construction process, Shanxi Zhongji Chenghang New Energy Co., Ltd. added production equipment such as carbonization purification, filtration and impurity removal pyrolysis, and centrifugal separation in the existing workshop buildings, as well as public auxiliary facilities such as carbon dioxide storage tanks and cooling towers. A new steel structure platform was also built to facilitate the project's production.
It is reported that Shanxi Zhongji Chenghang New Energy Co., Ltd. was established in 2022. Its main business includes new energy technology research and development, recycling and secondary utilization of used power batteries from new energy vehicles (excluding the operation of hazardous waste), recycling of renewable resources, and new energy of automotive lithium batteries.
