The China Polyurethane Industry Association held the 8th expanded meeting of the 7th Council
On April 24th, the 8th expanded meeting of the 7th Council of the China Polyurethane Industry Association was held in Beijing. The meeting summarized the association's work in 2024 and put forward the work plan for 2025.

Yang Maoliang, the chairman of the China Polyurethane Industry Association, delivered a work report at the 8th expanded meeting of the 7th Council titled "Exerting the Decision-making Function of the Council, Strengthening the Service Awareness of the Association, and Leading the High-Quality Development of the Polyurethane Industry". The work report indicates that last year, the global polyurethane industry chain was under pressure. However, investment in raw materials for China's polyurethane industry remained active. The production capacity of propylene oxide, isocyanate and polyether polyol was further expanded, and the production technology level and product quality were also further improved. The export scale of various raw materials increased significantly. In 2024, in accordance with the work requirements of the council, the association will continue to do a good job in analyzing the economic operation of the industry, guiding technological innovation and upgrading and transformation in the industry, advocating industry self-discipline, and strengthening enterprise brand building, etc. The focus was on organizing the 30th anniversary celebration of the association. A total of over 300 people, including the former chairmen, secretaries-general and member representatives of the Polyurethane Association, were invited to attend. On the spot, the documentary "Striving for 30 Years and Marching into a New Journey" and the commemorative collection "Struggle and Glory - China's Polyurethane Industry in the New Era" marking the 30th anniversary of the China Polyurethane Industry Association were released. A comprehensive review was conducted on the 30-year development journey of China's polyurethane industry, summarizing the experience and achievements of the industry's development, and looking forward to the development trends and prospects.
Yang Maoliang stated that in 2025, the Polyurethane Association will continue to adhere to the concept of "two services" in running the association and continue to carry out statistics and analysis of the economic operation data of the industry. Identify the key, difficult and hot issues in the industry, pay attention to industrial policies, and promptly reflect the demands of enterprises and the industry. Do a good job in compiling the industry's "15th Five-Year Plan" development guide. Under the business guidance of the superior administrative department, with Party building as the leading force, we will guide technological innovation and upgrading in the industry, advocate industry self-discipline, take the initiative to act, and promote the high-quality development of China's polyurethane industry.
Fu Xiangsheng, vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, introduced the current development status and situation of the petrochemical industry. He stated that the task of high-quality development for China's polyurethane industry is arduous. During the "15th Five-Year Plan" period, the industry should implement the new development concepts, intensify the implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy, accelerate the green and low-carbon transformation and digital upgrading, and strive for higher standards of "first-class innovation, first-class management, first-class talents, and first-class benefits". We should make efforts to cultivate more world-class enterprises and build a modern polyurethane industrial cluster.
Lu Guohui, the secretary-general of the Polyurethane Association, released the 2024 annual development report of China's polyurethane industry. In 2024, the production capacity of polyurethane raw materials MDI, TDI and polyether in China reached 4.69 million tons, 1.52 million tons and 9.03 million tons respectively, maintaining rapid growth. The output of products was 13.65 million tons, increasing by 6.1% year-on-year. From 2020 to 2024, the compound annual growth rate of polyurethane product output will be 3.6%.
