At the 27th China Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo held from May 8th to 11th, the "technology and bold moves" showcased by traditional energy and chemical enterprises shone brightly, catching people's eyes.

 

Longyuan Environmental Protection Co., Ltd. of National Energy Group showcased its coal-based new materials, catalysts and membranes, as well as new technologies such as carbon capture and biomass energy utilization. Longyuan Catalyst is one of the more representative ones, which has achieved the resource utilization of waste catalysts. It is reported that the company has three bases in Wuxi, Yixing and Wuhai. Among them, the two bases in Yixing and Wuxi focus on the production of catalysts, while the Wuhai base is dedicated to the production of regenerated catalysts.

 

 

 

 

 

After normal use, the catalyst will be classified as "hazardous waste". Our innovation lies in the fact that through a series of processes, waste catalysts are transformed into recycled catalysts for reuse, and their performance can rival that of new catalysts. Once the spent catalyst meets the regeneration standards, a full module unpacking and sorting regeneration process is adopted to make it look brand new from the inside out. Moreover, according to the user's requirements, its low-temperature activity, wear resistance, anti-toxicity, etc. can be enhanced, and it is called a "refreshed" regeneration catalyst. For waste catalysts that fail to meet the regeneration standards, they recycle vanadium, tungsten and titanium elements in the production of catalysts through carrier reconstruction and deep impurity removal processes, and name the newly produced catalysts "Hengxin" reconstituted catalysts. Through these two approaches, they have achieved the resource utilization of spent catalysts.

 

Ultrafiltration membranes and reverse osmosis membranes are the two core products of Longyuan Membrane. Longyuan Membrane can achieve wastewater in and clear water out. Compared with imported membrane products, Longyuan membranes can reduce costs by more than 20%, and their performance and lifespan have reached international advanced levels, achieving domestic substitution of raw materials and new products for reverse osmosis membranes." The reporter also learned that as the sole research-industrialization connection unit of the National Energy Group, Longyuan Environmental Protection has participated in the construction of the national-level research and development platform for CCUS(Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage). This platform has connected 24 co-construction units including leading enterprises, renowned universities and research institutes both inside and outside the group, forming an innovative consortium for the full-chain technology research and development, verification and demonstration of efficient carbon dioxide capture, chemical utilization and geological storage/displacement in the coal power and coal chemical industries.

 

At the exhibition stand of China Minmetals Corporation, a sand table that recreates the process of extracting lithium and potassium fertilizer from the original brine of Qinghai salt lakes and the manufacturing technology of the new generation of magnesium metal from salt lakes has attracted much attention. This model presents the full industrial chain innovation system for the comprehensive development of salt lake resources in the Qaidam Basin, focusing on three core aspects: "solid-liquid conversion - co-production of potassium, lithium and magnesium - green circulation". This project achieves efficient mining of low-grade resources through solid potassium ore dissolution and conversion technology, builds the largest potassium fertilizer base in China with the "reverse flotation - cold crystallization" process, innovates the lithium extraction technology from the original brine, breaks through the high-altitude electrolytic magnesium technology, and pioneer the anhydrous magnesium chloride melting purification process, highlighting a major breakthrough in China's salt lake science and technology field.

 

At the display stand set up by Beijing Chemical Industry Group, the intelligent hazardous chemicals safety manager, which is centered on a safety intelligent control platform, intelligent safety helmets, gas detectors, sound and light alarms, and intelligent bolt force sensors, caught the reporter's attention. Beside the exhibition stand, Liu Hao, the supervisor of the intelligent security platform of Huateng Soft Technology (Beijing) Information Technology Co., LTD., a subsidiary of the group, was introducing these products to professional visitors.

 

This is our smart safety helmet, which integrates functions such as a camera, gas sensor, personnel positioning, and vital sign detection. The difference between it and an ordinary safety helmet lies in that it can conduct real-time communication. Staff in the central control room can direct and supervise employees to accurately complete relevant tasks through the front camera of the safety helmet. In addition, smart safety helmets can also detect the wearer's condition, monitor their vital signs such as heart rate and oxygen saturation in real time online. Once the operator shows any physical abnormality, they will be immediately reminded and required to leave the working environment immediately." Liu Hao introduced that the smart safety helmet is also equipped with a smart gas detector, which can monitor over 40 kinds of gases in real time. Once it detects that gases such as methane and carbon monoxide in the working environment exceed the standard, it will immediately issue an alarm and upload the detection data to the central control room. At present, more than 30 enterprises under Beijing Chemical Industry Group have been using the safety intelligent control platform.

 

In Liu Hao's view, using technological means to transform traditional industries is a form of innovation. Their intelligent hazardous chemicals safety manager is designed to transform and enhance the safety production management level of traditional industries by applying intelligent equipment and an information platform.

 

From the recycling and regeneration of spent catalysts to the green development of salt lake resources, from the full-chain layout of carbon capture technology to the intelligent control of hazardous chemicals, at this year's Science and Technology Expo, traditional energy and chemical enterprises have demonstrated to the society a new atmosphere of reshaping the industrial landscape through technological innovation.
