The exhibition, themed "New Pattern of Silk Road · New Driving Force of Chemical Industry", lasts for three days and aims to promote the integrated development and technological innovation of the fine chemical industry.
At the opening ceremony, Zhang Yong, a member of the Party Working Committee and deputy director of the Management Committee of Lanzhou New Area, said that the fine chemical and new materials industry, as a strategic focus for Lanzhou New Area to enhance its industrial level and lead economic growth, has injected new vitality into the high-quality development of the new area's economy. Lanzhou New Area has planned a 150-square-kilometer green chemical industrial park to high standards. It has attracted over 200 projects covering pharmaceuticals, pesticides, new chemical materials, auxiliaries and reagents, and high-purity chemicals, with a total investment of over 60 billion yuan. More than 1,000 kinds of chemical products have been put into operation, accelerating the cultivation of a western chemical new city worth over 100 billion yuan. He hopes that all experts and scholars will offer advice and guidance for the development of the chemical industry in Lanzhou New Area, and jointly plan strategies for the development of fine chemicals and new materials industries, as well as strategies for the development of emerging industries.

Zeng Jian, former executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, former executive deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation, advisor, and deputy director of the Guidance Committee for Building World-Class Enterprises in China's Petrochemical Industry, pointed out. He put forward two requirements for the development of the new chemical materials industry: First, we should accelerate the development of the new materials industry and vigorously promote the optimization and upgrading of the industrial structure; Second, we should accelerate the establishment of a market-driven system, reform the scientific and technological innovation system, and make enterprises the main body of innovation.
Zhang Yafei, director of the Management Committee of Lanzhou New Area Chemical Industry Park, made a promotion for investment attraction in Lanzhou New Area Chemical Industry Park. He stated that the Chemical Industry Park in Lanzhou New Area focuses on developing four major industrial sectors: the extension of the petrochemical industry chain, fine chemicals and specialty chemicals, new chemical materials, and post-processing of materials. It has established the largest "specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative" chemical industry incubation base in the country, and has issued the "Management Measures for Chemical Pilot Bases and Pilot Projects in Lanzhou New Area", building an important bridge between the upstream and downstream of the core product innovation chain. In 2022, it was recognized as a representative fine chemical industry park in Gansu Province, and in 2023, it met the standards of a D-class low-risk park. The park hopes to establish a connection and cooperation bond with business friends from all walks of life, build a win-win bridge together, jointly create a new highland for the fine chemical industry, and jointly create a new future of prosperous development for the fine chemical industry.
It is understood that the expo has set up seven major theme exhibition areas, with exhibits covering fine chemicals and specialty chemicals, chemical equipment and facilities, new chemical materials, environmental protection and safety, chemical packaging and storage and transportation, smart chemical engineering and other fields. A total of more than 200 exhibitors have gathered. The expo also held several sub-events concurrently, including the Forum on Accelerating the Cultivation of New Quality Productivity to Promote the High-Quality Development of the Chemical and New Materials Industry and the 2024 Microchemical Continuous Reaction Process and Microchannel Reactor Technology Exchange Seminar.
