Shanggu signed a 1 million-ton CCUS demonstration project

Recently, Xi 'an Shangu Power Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the core compressor unit system solution of the carbon capture device of a certain new energy and supporting coal-fired power and carbon capture integrated project of China National Petroleum Corporation. As an important practice of implementing the national "dual carbon" strategy, this signing marks a crucial step for Shanggu in assisting the green transformation and upgrading of the energy industry and building a new energy system, injecting strong impetus into China's achievement of the "dual carbon" goals.

 

Facing the urgent challenge of global climate change, CCUS(Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage Technology), as a key technology, has become the core path to solve the emission reduction problem in the energy industry. By capturing carbon dioxide and further processing and utilizing it or permanently storing it in geological structures, it can prevent carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere and intensifying the greenhouse effect.

 

 

 

As a domestic "new energy + coal power +CCUS" integrated project with demonstration effect, this project is located in Karamay, Xinjiang. It will recover carbon dioxide from the flue gas of coal-fired units through the supporting million-ton carbon dioxide capture system and use it for carbon dioxide oil displacement to enhance crude oil recovery rate. This is also currently the largest demonstration project in the country covering the entire industrial chain from coal-fired power plant flue gas carbon capture to oilfield utilization and storage, providing an important demonstration for China to optimize its energy structure and accelerate its green and low-carbon transformation. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to save 43,800 tons of standard coal and reduce 107,600 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. Moreover, it will connect the entire process of the large-scale CCUS industry, achieving a dual breakthrough in "carbon reduction" and "efficiency improvement", accelerating the construction of a clean, low-carbon and sustainable new energy system in the region, and contributing to the economic, green and sustainable development of the power industry.

 

For the CCUS project signed this time, Shanggu will fully leverage the advantages of its "1+7" distributed energy system solution and customize highly efficient and energy-saving carbon capture technology based on the characteristics of this project. The CCUS core unit system solution provided by Shanggu, through the world's advanced pneumatic computing technology, can reduce the power consumption of compression compared with traditional projects, while ensuring the capture rate and product purity. The long-term operation stability of the unit can be significantly improved.
