The Xinjiang Tianye coal-to-ethanol project has been started up
Sinochem News: Recently, Xinjiang Tianye's 250,000-ton coal-to-ethanol project has successfully completed the entire process and smoothly produced anhydrous ethanol.
Relying on the 600,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol production system and large-scale coal chemical equipment of Tianye Huihe, this project uses syngas and methanol as raw materials and, through processes such as dimethyl ether, carbonylation, hydrogenation and product separation, converts part of the syngas and by-product methanol into ethanol products, achieving the extension of the coal chemical industry chain and the high-value development of products.

The start-up of this coal-to-ethanol project will play a leading and exemplary role in Xinjiang Tianye's green and low-carbon transformation and upgrading as well as the vigorous development of new quality productive forces. Meanwhile, this project has injected new impetus into promoting the high-end, diversified and low-carbon development of Xinjiang's coal, coal power and coal chemical industries. By now, as the controlling shareholder of Xinjiang Tianye, Tianye Group has successfully established a "one head and multiple lines" development pattern in the modern coal chemical industry, with coal-to-syngas as the source and multiple industrial chains such as methanol, oxalic acid, ethanol, and ethylene glycol complementing each other.
