Nuclear energy steam supply successfully "cross-border cooperation" with the petrochemical industry! The "Heqi No.1" project has been completed and put into operation

The website of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission released a message stating that on June 19th, China's first industrial nuclear energy steam supply project - the "Heqi No.1" project - was officially completed and put into operation at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Base, which is controlled by China Nuclear Power Investment Corporation under China National Nuclear Corporation.

 

The "Heqi No.1" nuclear steam supply project of China National Nuclear Corporation is a national clean steam supply model for the petrochemical industry jointly created by Jiangsu Nuclear Power and all parties. It will become the clean energy "major artery" for the construction of the Lianyungang Petrochemical Base. As a result, China's comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy has expanded from single power generation and meeting the heating needs of urban residents to the industrial steam supply field.

 

 

 

In recent years, the National Atomic Energy Agency has vigorously promoted the comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy and the wide application of nuclear technology in industries such as industry, agriculture, medical care, environmental protection and safety, and supported the implementation of a number of projects including nuclear energy steam supply. The coupled development of comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy and high energy-consuming industries will further highlight the zero-carbon value of nuclear energy. It can meet the diverse energy demands of high energy-consuming industries, provide decarbonization technical solutions for high carbon-emission industries, and support the construction of large-scale national chemical and industrial bases.

 

The "Heqi No.1" nuclear steam supply project of China National Nuclear Corporation, as one of the first batch of "Green and Low-Carbon Advanced Technology Demonstration Projects", features "green safety, stability and high efficiency". The project uses the secondary circuit steam that drives the steam turbine system to generate electricity in Units 3 and 4 of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant as the heat source. It adopts a multiple isolation design for the primary circuit, secondary circuit and steam circuit of the nuclear power plant to prepare industrial steam under physical isolation. Then, through multi-stage heat exchange, the steam is transported to the petrochemical industrial base through the industrial steam pipeline network, replacing the traditional coal consumption. Solve the problems of heat sources and power sources for petrochemical enterprises.

 

 

 

After the project is completed, 4.8 million tons of zero-carbon clean steam will be continuously transported from the Tianwan Nuclear Power Base to the Lianyungang Petrochemical Base every year. This is equivalent to reducing the combustion of 400,000 tons of standard coal annually, and is equivalent to reducing 1.07 million tons of carbon dioxide, 184 tons of sulfur dioxide and 263 tons of nitrogen oxides. It is also equivalent to adding 2,900 hectares of afforestation area. It saves over 700,000 tons of carbon emission quotas for the petrochemical base every year.

 

The successful "cross-border cooperation" between the nuclear energy steam supply of Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and the petrochemical industry has provided a pioneering trial case for the nuclear energy industrial steam supply solutions that many domestic nuclear power plants are exploring, offered a new solution for the green upgrade of energy supply in domestic petrochemical bases, and opened up a new way for nuclear energy to assist the green upgrade of traditional industries.
