On May 7th, the construction site of the Yan 'an Natural Gas Storage and peak Shaving Project and the supporting LNG project of Yanchang Petroleum reached an important milestone - after 135 minutes of intense work, the dome gas lifting of two 50,000 cubic meters bimetallic full containment storage tanks was successfully completed, laying a solid foundation for the project to be delivered on schedule.

The gas jacking of LNG storage tanks utilizes the principle of the pressure difference between the enclosed space and the outside to slowly lift the dome structure from the bottom of the storage tank to the predetermined position at the top of the tank. It is the process with the greatest construction difficulty, the most complex technical process, and the highest safety risk during installation. The project command post of Yanchang Petroleum Refining and Chemical Company made early plans and, in collaboration with the supervisor, general contractor and construction units, earnestly carried out the preparatory work for the lifting. All parties involved in the construction repeatedly studied and discussed, and invited experts to hold an argumentation meeting to improve the operation plan, clarify the inspection points and control points during the lifting preparation process, and strictly prevent all kinds of risks and hidden dangers.

The jacking process adopts digital technology, transmitting data such as air volume pressure, ascending speed, dome levelness, and jacking height to electronic screens through signals. This eliminates the need for technicians to observe from heights in the past, making the operation safer, the data more accurate, and the process more intuitive. Meanwhile, real-time monitoring of the fan, balance and sealing system is carried out to ensure that the entire process of the dome lifting operation is under control, guaranteeing the smooth completion of operations such as pressure increase, suspension and ascent.

It is learned that the project has a total of four 50,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks. The No. 1 and No. 2 tanks lifted by gas this time have a diameter of 52 meters, a dome weight of approximately 471 tons, and a dome gas lifting height of 29.85 meters. The jacking operation of storage tanks No. 3 and No. 4 will be carried out subsequently.
