A 200,000-ton SAF project per year has been signed and settled in Mengzhou, Henan Province

On June 6th, the 200,000-ton sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project of Henan Zhonghe Weirun Energy Technology Co., LTD. (referred to as Zhonghe Weirun Energy) was signed and settled in Mengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone.

 

 

 

Zhou Xinqiang, director of the Management Committee of Mengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone, said at the signing ceremony that Mengzhou has formed four leading industrial clusters, namely equipment manufacturing, leather manufacturing, green chemical engineering and electronic information. The signing of the 200,000-ton SAF project by Zhonghe Weirun Energy is a deep recognition of Mengzhou's industrial foundation, an important milestone in the development of Mengzhou's industries, and a crucial step in implementing the "dual carbon" goals and promoting green transformation. Mengzhou will form a dedicated working team to follow up throughout the process, providing "one-stop" services in terms of land, approval, policies, etc., to ensure that the project starts construction, goes into production and achieves benefits as soon as possible.

 

According to Xie Wei, the chairman of Zhonghe Weirun Energy, the company's 200,000-ton SAF project mainly uses industrial-grade mixed oil (UCO), palm acidified oil, cottonseed acidified oil, and treated waste oils from animals and plants as raw materials. Through processes such as hydrofining, hydrofining, and distillation separation, it produces sustainable aviation fuel, by-products light oil, and hydrocarbon-based biodiesel. The total planned investment for the project is 2 billion yuan, with a planned land area of approximately 200 mu. The construction period is 18 months, and it is expected to be completed and put into operation in December 2026.

 

According to Xie Wei, the advantage of this project lies in the adoption of a new fluidized bed hydrogenation technology, which has broken through the bottleneck of the conventional fixed-bed hydrogenation technology in the process of processing high-oxygen content biomass oil. This technology has the advantages of a wide range of raw material adaptability, long catalyst service life, high reaction conversion rate, high thermal energy utilization efficiency and low investment.

 

In terms of energy consumption of the project, compared with biomass energy produced from raw materials such as palm oil, soybean oil and rapeseed oil, biomass energy produced from waste gutter oil can double the amount of carbon dioxide emission reduction. Take the biodiesel exported from China to Europe as an example. According to industry test data, one ton of biodiesel can achieve a carbon reduction of 2.83 tons.

 

Xie Wei stated that in order to make full use of energy and reduce consumption, this project has adopted a variety of practical and feasible energy-saving measures, with the goal of building China's first fully green and zero-carbon SAF industrial park.
